ADOPTING A FRIEND

Shaggy Dog Rescue wants to find the perfect home for all the dogs in our care. Therefore, we are very strict in our adoption policies.

STEPS IN THE ADOPTION PROCESS

Fill out and return our adoption application
After receiving your application, we would like to discuss with your veterinarian, if you have any animals in care at their instituition.
We will contact you to discuss the Adoptee, to see if we can make the perfect match.
After discussion, we will arrange a home visit for you to meet your prospective new family member & friend.
Upon agreement by all parties, sign adoption contract and give adoption donation for your Adoptee.
We do ask that for 3 months after adopting you email us photographs & progress reports of your new pet.

Do you have children?(required)
If yes, what are their ages?
Do you own or rent?(required)
If you rent please provide your landlord's contact information
If your landlord requires a pet deposit, you must provide us with a copy of a paid receipt prior to finalizing the adoption. This is not needed for the application process but must be completed before the dog is placed in your home.
How long have you been at this residence?(required)
Does your Homeowners Association have any restrictions on pet ownership?
Does the city or town you live in have any restrictions on the number of dogs you can have?
Do you have a fenced yard?
If yes, please describe how large the yard is and how high the fence is.
Do you have a pool?
If yes, please describe how the pool is secured.

Have you previously owned a dog?(required)
If yes, what happened to it?
Please list any current pets that you have, include sex and age.
Please provide your veterinarian's contact information for each pet listed above.

Your future pet

NOTE: Shaggy Dog Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization. The adoption fee is a donation to defray veterinarian cost of these rescued dogs. The fee is non-refundable and to be paid at the time of adoption. No exceptions. We reserve the right to refuse any adoption we feel is not in the best interest of the dog or the adopter. Completion of this application does not guarantee approval for adoption. By submitting this appliction you agree to the Terms of Adoption above.
